With the assistance of an anesthetist it is possible in our office, in a separate room, designed especially for this purpose, to perform dental treatments and dental surgery under sedation.

Our patients are examined on one occasion by our anesthetist before the treatment, and if he or she considers necessary, he or she may require laboratory tests (blood count, blood sugar test, liver and kidney function test, ions, prothrombin), ECG, and a lung X-ray screening dated not more than six months ago.

2. How should you arrive for conscious sedation?

Please, arrive at the office one hour before your appointment. It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothes, and avoid tight clothing. If dental intervention lasts more than 1,5 or 2 hours, it is necessary that sedation be realized in several steps. Thus sedation makes possible do work of long weeks at one time, without any inconvenience.

3. Steps of sedation

At the beginning of sedation a little plastic venous cannula is inserted into a vein on the back of the hand. Narcotics and analgesics are administered through this cannula. After falling asleep swallowing reflexes are eliminated. Please, do not eat or drink anything six hours before anesthesia!

During the intervention your pulse, blood pressure and oxigen level of blood (oxigenation) is under control, and is monitored continuously by machines. If the case requires, pure oxygen is administered into the lungs through an oxygen pipe so as to compensate worse air change of more superficial breathing.

After anesthesia you can have a rest of after-effects of sedation comfortably in our office, and having gone the effects of the drugs, you can go home with your companion.

You shall not drive a vehicle, or use an electric houshold appliance or device, or which has a cutting edge the day of sedation.
